Helping Out with small projects
At the last Parent Meeting and newsletter, I put out a small list of tasks that we would like see accomplished. Thank you for the quick response by many of you! To the group that would like to help me line the front white board, please let me, or Heather Bartnek, know if this Thursday works for you at 5:00 pm.
Raising Funds for the Program
SPAM MUSUBI MONDAYS: We are looking for a few more volunteers between 8-11 am on Mondays. Each week students have the opportunity to purchase spam musubi at lunch on Mondays. It takes a volunteer crew of parents and alumni parents to make sure there is enough to sell. We are grateful to Kris Tokunaga for heading up this committee. If you are able to volunteer once a month or every week, please email Kris at: firstname.lastname@example.org
AMAZON SMILE: The program ends February 20th, so order away! If you like to order on Amazon, then type in "Mira Mesa Instrumental Music Boosters" and be sure it says AmazonSmile, then enjoy shopping like always. Every little bit helps our students. Thank you!
GIFT CARDS (Virtual): Rather shop online? Shop anytime online with RaiseRight. This is an easy way to help support our program. RaiseRight is the same as gift cards, but virtual and easy to use. Go to the website, sign up, and select, “Join a Program”, then put in our group code: 9ED4DA7733861. Contact Meegan Neils: email@example.com with any questions.

Each afternoon last week, the practice rooms and main room were full of students working with one another and individually. Nothing makes me happier then to hear the sounds of students working on their music. Let's keep the focus and energy going! It's how we all get better. Parents, thank you for your support!
I hope you have a great week!
All In, Always.
💙Raising Funds for the Sapphire Sound
Believe it or not, each year our operating budget is close to $250,000 to help bring opportunities to the students of the Sapphire Sound. All of our transportation, music, instruments and equipment, marching staff, color guard staff, and more comes from us being able to raise the funds needed to maintain this high quality program. We work hard at raising money through various fundraisers such as our annual Band Tournament, Pancake Breakfast, “Making the Cut” chili and bbq contest, restaurant nights, individual donations, and many more. It takes a wonderful village to support each student who wants to participate in this award-winning program. We also believe that no student will be denied the opportunity to participate in the Sapphire Sound due to individual monetary factors. On average the breakdown of costs per student totals just over $1,000 each year.
From this $1,000 per student, we have a transportation and field trip contribution of $350 that we ask for your help with. If you are able to help contribute, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to MMIMB (non-profit 501c3). To help make things easier you can make your donations via PayPal or Credit Card on the band website. Thank you for your support!
Ways you can help bring opportunities to our students:
We encourage you to pay what you are able with this year's transportation and field trip costs of $350 per student.
Do you have a matching funds program at your office or place of work? This is a wonderful way to double your support. Email our treasurers, Whitney Fabrie at: firstname.lastname@example.org or Yolanda Vallina at: email@example.com to receive the tax id information and get help with this matching gift.
Sponsor a prop for $50! Our field show has several props each year including brand new front drops that border the sideline of the field. We are happy to have your name added to the sponsors list on the Band website.
Purchase a Show Shirt for a Band member. This is a unique year that requires a unique uniform. Please consider purchasing a special designed top that students will perform in. Your donation of $50 will help with the purchasing of 175 shirts.
Sponsor an instrument or donate an instrument. There's no denying instruments are expensive. Most of the instruments in the band cost somewhere between $1,200 - $9,000. If you are able to help contribute any monetary amount to the instrument fund, please consider giving a donation. If you have an instrument that isn't being used at home, send it in to the program. We are grateful to provide instruments to any student who needs one for the school year.
Color Guard equipment. The color guard uses flags, flag poles, faux rifles and sabres, and other equipment to help enhance the performance of music on the field. To sponsor a flag or flag pole is $25 and faux rifles or sabres are $50.
