Update: 27 spots left!
We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Disneyland trip on Sunday, March 8th, 2026! This magical day will be an opportunity for everyone in the program to explore California Adventure (one of the two Disneyland parks). All instrumental music students will additionally have the opportunity to sight-read Disney music in their professional recording studio!
Spots will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, based on payment. To secure a spot, students must pay the full $260. This amount covers all direct costs of the trip, including transportation, admission to the park, and the recording studio session. This is due by Friday, February 13th, 2025. We are only offering 95 student tickets so be sure to sign up soon! In order to attend the trip, FTCs must be paid in full.
Color Guard: If you are interested in joining us in California Adventure (Would not participate in the recording studio), please fill out this Google Form. Do NOT pay for the trip yet if you are in color guard. I will need to order these tickets separately.
There are two steps for paying for the trip:
Fill out the Band Student Sign-Up Google form
Payment: Band Student Payment Link or bring cash/check to Mr. Lockie
Payments are Non-Refundable
If bringing cash/check, do NOT put it in the box. Turn it in to Mr. Lockie so he can time stamp your payment.
Food will not be provided
Each year the San Diego Unified School District hosts an opportunity for students in the district to audition for honor ensembles. The SDUSD High School Honor Band & Orchestra auditions are done via a video recording of scales and a solo excerpt. Students are encouraged to spend January preparing for their auditions as they will have 4 weeks to submit their video audition. Video submissions open on January 19th and close on February 19th. All rehearsals, for students who are accepted, will be held at Mira Mesa HS, which makes it easy for all of us to be at home!

Mira Mesa HS traditionally has a large number of students in the ensembles, so let's have another great year!
Thank you to Stephanie Lawrence and the uniform team of parents for sizing students last Monday and Tuesday for our formal concert attire. Those students who were sized were given a form with what they may need, or want, to order. This form will be due back to Mr. Lockie before Monday, 1/26. If you still need an order form, please send your student to Mr. Lockie. You are welcome to purchase any concert attire items individually outside of the MMIMB as well.
Congratulations to the Mira Mesa Symphony Orchestra on your outstanding performance at CASMEC this past weekend! Being selected as the only high school symphony orchestra in the entire state to perform is an incredible honor, and you represented Mira Mesa with excellence! You should all be extremely proud of this achievement.
I would also like to extend special congratulations to Lance Cadatal, Kenneth Carbonell, and Ash Villanova for being selected to participate in the CBDA All-State Honor Bands. This is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to your hard work, dedication, and musicianship.
Bravo to all of our students for an unforgettable weekend and for continuing to set such a high standard for our program. Keep up the amazing work!
